This is a truly great building, funded by AXA Real Estate, developed by Lipton Rogers and Designed by PLP Architecture – it will be home to as many as 12000 City of London Office workers – the lift and escalator strategy has therefore got to be world class – that’s why we were chosen as the Vertical Transportation Consultants.
Our expertise runs through tall and super tall buildings globally not only through design but right the way through construction and for the life of the building where we provide a Vertical Transportation management service.
In February 2015 the site was acquired by a consortium led by Axa Real Estate in a deal worth £300 million. The building was completely re-designed and a new application for planning permission was submitted in summer 2015 following consultation.
The building, renamed as “22”, is 278 m (912 ft) tall with 62 storeys. The tower provides approximately 120,000 square metres (1,291,700 sq ft) of office space and 4,000 square metres (43,100 sq ft) for restaurants, retail outlets, amenities, wellbeing and viewing galleries.
It is the second tallest building in London and the tallest in the City. Completion was 2021.
