Designing vertical transportation systems to create the perfect balance of form, function and value.

We design vertical, inclined and horizontal passenger flow solutions in all types of buildings, from feasibility and concept through each stage to a fully detailed performance specification. In the UK we follow the RIBA Plan of Work stages and in other global centres we tune our scopes to meet local requirements and cultures.

It takes skill, experience and a depth of knowledge in the field of vertical transportation to combine the original architect’s and client’s concepts of ambience, visitor experience, working environment and speed of travel with the practicalities of what is feasible, affordable, workable and in full compliance with all current (and foreseeable) regulations and statutory requirements of health, safety and employment legislation.

By working closely with clients, contractors, architects and other members of the design team we will establish clear design requirements for the vertical transportation strategy. We undertake a detailed in house analysis and simulation of the predicted population levels, traffic levels and likely circulation patterns within the building and produce clear and detailed reports which are easy to understand.

This information can be combined with a clear service, maintenance and emergency egress strategy, which includes consideration of such as storage areas, loading bays and the transportation and movement of goods into and around the building.

During the design we will provide a detailed evolving schedule of equipment, listing all lifts and escalators together with critical information for interface with other engineering disciplines, such as the structural, electrical and mechanical requirements. We are of course also able to produce general arrangement drawings detailing interfaces and equipment layout.
